  1. As a DC guy, I have rarely read the Avengers on a steady basis. Outside of the rare individual issue bought off the rack for 30 cents in my youth, my runs are (and please don’t laugh)

    1) Geoff Johns/Scott Kolins Avengers
    2) Bendis/Finch New Avengers
    3) Current Hickman New Avengers
    4) Byrne West Coast Avengers

Of those, I think the Byrne run is clearly the best. The Hickman stuff is interesting in scope. The Bendis stuff was interesting in the team make-up being odd. But the Byrne stuff felt like the Avengers.

Anyways, I would like to hear at some point the top ten Avengers villains. Outside of Kang, is there anyone that is purely an Avengers villain?

I am surprised Tigra didn’t get mentioned given this show’s love of The Cat.

  2. My 10 favorite Avengers (I’m not including Avengers Academy or Young Avengers characters):
    1. Hawkeye
    2. Hank Pym (I don’t even care which version)
    3. Tigra
    4. Black Knight
    5. Captain America
    6. Mockingbird
    7. Wasp
    8. Hercules
    9. Iron Man (Rhodey version, sorry Tony)
    10. Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew is so funny in Secret Avengers)
There are other Avengers I love, perhaps more, but not AS Avengers. She-Hulk as a member of the FF, and I don’t believe in the whole everyone’s an Avengers – Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Wolverine, should never be considered Avengers.

A similar movie list – AS REPRESENTED IN AVENGERS MOVIES AS OF AGE OF ULTRON – would go, like: Hulk, Cap, Widow, Hawkeye (a huge move forward with A2AoU), Thor, Iron Man, Quicksilver, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Nick Fury.

    10 WORST Avengers?
I think Frank has it right. It’s less about being a bad character than about not being appropriate as an Avenger. If I go for only lame characters (not inappropriate ones that I can’t consider Avengers – and I’d add the Thing and Moon Knight in there as well despite my great love for the West Coast Avengers), I’d name, in no particular order: Gilgamesh, Starfox, Sersi, Mantis, Stingray, Red Hulk, Jocasta, Sentry, Monica Rambeau Captain Marvel (I love her later career though), Ares. Anyway, off the top of my head, and considering I didn’t reach much Avengers after 1990.
