Face Front, True Believers! This week is maple-syrup flavored as we welcome everyone’s favorite French Canadian chronicler of sci-fi, Siskoid! Plus the usual plain American hamburger and shake that is Illegal Machine & Diabolu Frank! We of course talk about Alpha Flight, Plastique, Kids in the Hall, SCTV, Barenaked Ladies and the plight of the First Nation, but I’m afraid Alan Thicke, Justin Bieber and Captain Canuck will have to wait for some follow-up show! Asterix! Tintin! Be sure to check out Siskoid’s own show, The Lonely Hearts Romance Comics Podcast or perhaps Siskoid’s Blog of Geekery! Excelsior!

As you can tell, we love a fierce conversation, so why don’t you socialize with us, either by leaving a comment on this page or…

  1. Holy crap, you dug up Hal Lone Pine’s New Brunswick Song? I live in the same city as the Magnetic Hill referenced. It is not actually a giant magnet. Nor is our Chocolate River actually made of Quik.

Fred Van Lente was the name of the Alpha Flight writer we were struggling with.

  2. Love comics origins stories, so enjoyed this episode tremendously.
My folks went to England on vacation when I was a kid and I asked for ‘British comics’ as a souvenir. They got me a couple of Asterix books and I was hooked. I have a smattering of those books and enjoy them more than Tintin (which I only recently discovered).

Those Asterix books were funny then and now.
