  1. i have tried in vain to dig up any press or interviews with sienkiewicz about ‘a river in egypt’. last year in a fit of e-nostalgia got that (and renee french’s ‘the ninth gland’, + prosser & the pander brothers ‘exquiste corpse’, as well as ‘silicon horizon’ by richard forgues). i always wondered if it was just a riff that he couldn’t see sustaining, or what. but the inks struck me when i was a teenage runaway, and they’ve stuck with me to this day. the splash pages on those two installments live in my head as high watermarks
