Face Front, True Believers! As much as it may seem like we’ve become The Marvel Comics Super Special Podcast, movies are actually supposed to be a secondary concern to the actual comic books, so we decided to do a nigh-Lady Daemon level deep dive for an anti-heroine with close ties to cult rituals who debuted in a black and white magazine and was often written by pre-fame Chris Claremont! Presenting Satana Hellstrom, Sister of the Son of Satan! We look at her early stories from before she landed in the first ever Handbook of the Dead and then go down a rabbit hole cut into the bottom of the Mighty Marvel Mail Bag! Since we only gave Satana the first half hour, we bothered to pull together a tumblr gallery for the first time since our Doctor Strange episodes! Excelsior?

Face Front, True Believers! Frank finally finished editing and releasing our coverage of the third; no sixth… Wait, do the solo movies count, since Origins had the team name in the title? Ah screw it most recent flick in the too long running X-Men franchise just a fortnight after its not-especially-anticipated release! And by “we” meaning a show run by Mr. Fixit while Frank lies passively on his back, nearly pulling a Fixit by almost dosing off several times and (speaking of releases) farting loudly and moistly following a full day of convention going and Mediterranean buffet gorging without Mac, who abstained from this outing! Also, Frank kept rolling around on the floor, bumping into the laptop and once accidentally shutting down the recording, making Fixit paranoid for the rest of the session! We’re in the same room, but you’ll swear it was a Skype session the way we phone it in at four in the morning! Also, Fixit’s recording panics, hiccups (one literal) and Frank’s bowel sounds are mostly edited out, which is more than we can say for the sprawling bloat of Bryan Singer’s latest, possibly last, arguably lamest outing with Marvel”s” mutants! Excelsior?

Face Front, True Believers! Illegal Machine, Mr. Fixit & Diabolu Frank look at Ryan Reynolds’ latest outing as The Merc With A Mouth, Wade Wilson, that dude who totally isn’t Deathstroke the Terminator with Spider-Man’s tongue, who debuted in X-Men Origins: Wolverine seven years ago no matter what Days of Future Past did to the movie continuity. Also, we talk about the trailers that played in front of the movie like X-Men: Apocalypse (Frank’s crappier showing had 10 Cloverfield Lane and Grimsby) before looking at Deadpool in film and in the comics (with a rousing defense of the career of Rob Liefeld, for reals.) Also, we all forgot to mention the soundtrack by Junkie XL with the boss mid-80s goth industrial bell things over and over again (of course Frank dug them.) Oh, and we blow off your mail for a quick rundown of all those new followers Captain America brought in before we made everyone forget this podcast existed with all those rolled spine specials and DC junk. Face Front, True Believers! Diabolu Frank & Illegal Machine with Mr. Fixit in tow are back to back to meet Stephen Strange for the first time all over again! This episode, we look at the earliest origins of one of the first and finest heroes from the House of Ideas in Stan Lee & Steve Ditko’s stories from Strange Tales #110-111 & 114-115 (1963) and Doctor Strange #169 (1968) by Roy Thomas and Dan Adkins! These stupendous stories see the introductions of The Ancient One, Baron Mordo, and Nightmare, accompanied by audio excerpts from the 1967 WBAI New York radio show and animated appearances! Also included is talk about the 1990s run and a surprise cameo appearance by one of the creators from that period! Excelsior!

Face Front, True Believers! It’s been three weeks since our last #MarvelSHP, which is like one-third as long a wait as for the last one, so we’re getting better! Illegal Machine returns to join Diabolu Frank to look at the 2004-2005 mini-series Strange, which was intended to be a sort of Ultimate Doctor Strange re-imagining by J. Michael Straczynski, but his protégé Samm Barnes got top billing over artist Brandon Peterson, and this revamp has been largely forgotten in the decade since its publication. That’s strange in itself, since it was clearly the basis for the 2007 DTV cartoon Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme, and ranked between #24-53 in the top 100 comics sold in North America, selling 36-60K copies each during its six month run. That’s far better than anything starring the Master of the Mystic Arts since the last time he had his own ongoing series in the early ’90s. We reevaluate the book to see if it was undervalued, or if it just damaged the property in a highly visible manner. Also, we briefly mention Mark Waid & Emma Rios Strange 4-issue mini that bombed in 2010 (debuting at 89th place with 23,362 copies and plummeting from there.) Episode art tumblr here. Excelsior!

Face Front, True Believers! It’s been two months since our last #MarvelSHP! We do other Rolled Spine Podcasts, so you could subscribe to another stream if you for really and truly missed us, but that’s not your scene, is it? So fine then– you get to miss Illegal Machine and Mister Fixit some more, because they’re not on this episode, either!

This week we return to a forgotten feature of the podcast, Wild Agents of Marvel, named after the 1990s fan club from the House of Ideas! Here we spotlight the stories of our friends and listeners! Regular appreciator (of all our shows, fair weather friends) and podcast virgin Token Fire Guy tells how he got into comics, The Dark Tower, and generally gabs with our own Diabolu Frank! Poor (T.F.) Guy’s probably got balls of blue, having recorded much of this show over a year ago, and placed in deep freeze until we were ready for him to defrost au flambé to entertain you! Then, original W.A.M. Man Count Drunkula of Secret Origins Podcast and Flowers & Fishnets: A Black Canary Podcast takes audio Frank specifically told him he had no interest in broadcasting that was part of a warm-up chat for one of his podcasts, emailed it to Frank anyway, and our boy shamelessly threw it in to expand this show! Finally, the Mighty Marvel Mail Bag! Excelsior!
